Contract Update

Dear Fellow Union Brothers and Sisters,

Teamsters Local 127, the lead union for negotiations with MassDOT for a successor contract, met again on 9/5/2019 along side the Steelworkers and other Unit B unions in further efforts to reach an agreement on a new contract with MassDOT for our members.  As you know from prior updates, Local 127 is fighting hard to negotiate an agreement that provides solid economic growth to all members, including those who have been red-circled and those who have not, and to do so without conceding to much language sought by MassDOT that would disrupt work schedules and overtime opportunities for our members.  We are pleased to report that today we made some progress on a number of open issues, and will return to the bargaining table on September 18, 2019 to continue our efforts to secure a fair and equitable agreement.

Although it is impossible to predict with certainty when a final agreement will be reached, our goal is to complete the negotiations in the near future.  However, we will only do so when we believe we have obtained the very best agreement for our members that can be achieved.  We appreciate your patience and support during these very difficult negotiations and we will continue to keep you advised of our progress following further meetings.

Fraternally,

George McGilloway, Secretary-Treasurer/Principal Executive Officer
